Music heard on the road…
Atlanta, GA – Roxie Watson
Roxie Watson plays what they call “alterna-grass.” This 5 woman band writes creative tunes and covers classics such as Jolene and Folsom Prison Blues. I saw them play at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA in December 2010. Eddie’s is a great venue and I highly recommend taking in a show there. Roxie took the stage and performed with the professional sound you would expect from a large headliner but with the intimacy you’d expect to find at a hootenanny on your granny’s porch. Go to their site and give them a listen, you won’t be disappointed.
Opening for Roxie that night was solo performer Brian Perry. Brian banged his guitar soulfully while spitting out lyrics that the audience could identify with. I’d love to hear him again. His sound is what I’d describe as folk.
